A Page Review or Site Audit is a snapshot: here's what's broken today, here's what to fix. The retainer is what happens after that. The same checks run again every month, so you know whether last month's fixes actually moved a number, and new decay gets caught before it costs a citation. It doesn't start cold; see GEO Consulting for how this fits with the rest of the nine-step process.

How this starts

The retainer picks up after a Page Review or an AI Visibility Audit, not before. Both establish the baseline the Share-of-Voice Report and citation checks get measured against every month after. Without one, there's nothing to compare this month's numbers to.

Minimum term is 3 months. After that it runs month-to-month, cancel with 30 days' notice. One person does the work: no account managers, no handoff between an audit team and a retainer team.

Common questions

What's included in the monthly retainer?

Six things every month: an AI Share-of-Voice Report, Google AI Overview citation checks, a Rank & Traffic Review pulled from Search Console, page refreshes (two a month at the base tier), content decay monitoring, and one plain-English report tying it together.

Do I need to complete an audit first?

Yes. The retainer tracks a baseline every month against citation share, rankings, and page performance. Without a Page Review or Site Audit first, there's no baseline to compare this month's numbers to.

How do you check AI citations?

Directly, per query. Each target query gets run against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews, and the result gets logged: cited, mentioned, or absent. It's not inferred from traffic or impression data.

What's the minimum commitment?

Three months. After that it runs month-to-month, with 30 days' notice to cancel.

Get a baseline, then keep it moving.

Start with a Page Review or an Audit. Once there's a baseline, we'll talk about whether a retainer makes sense for your queries.
